4DM restructures management as chiefs turn focus to strategy

19/03/2007 Extract from PrintWeek 15 March 2007 4DM Group is gearing up for future expansion with a restructure of its senior management, including the appointment of three divisional managing directors. Chief Executive Charles Grant-Salmon said the move would allow him, along with co-owner Les Ritchie, more time to focus on the £15m turnover direct mail house's future strategy. He said "It's very difficult, when you're involved in day-to-day management, to devote enough time to overall strategy. It's always been my desire to bring in a dynamic team to take responsibility for the running of the business." The new team includes managing directors for 4DM's three arms. James Portsmouth takes responsibility for 4DM's direct mail division, while Lance Hill and Darren Crawford head up printing arm Transcom and data and digital arm Addition respectively. [To complete the changes Robin Skinner who joined the Board in January will now head Sales for the group with Mark Christison retaining the role of Group Financial Director.] Grant-Salmon stressed that there was no hidden agenda, describing the move as "more of an internal restructure than anything else". He added that he expects a lot of change in the marketing services sector over the next few years, and that he hoped 4DM would develop a "more sophisticated" offering, including more add-on services.
