Many of us have heard of digital print and how it can be used as a cost effective option to traditional litho printing when producing relatively low volumes. This is where many litho printers "pitch" their digital printing capabilities, but in reality there is so much more to it than that. VIDP (variable image digital print) is one of the most significant growth areas in the direct mail market today. Where data is available to drive format and creative, the recipients details can appear in full colour on every page. Money off promotions can incorporate variable amounts depending on the profile of that individual (spending habits etc). In addition, a variable full colour image can also be incorporated to really engage the customer, as all of the information is of relevance to that person only. This makes VIDP a key tool for building true one to one relationships with customers and increasing response rates and customer loyalty. Using this method of communication, companies have seen response rates dramatically increase. On demand web ordering is also available, which can be set up and tailored for your use. By simply logging on and selecting relevant print items which are available from your pre-defined list, an order can be submitted directly to us. This is specifically designed for organisations with multiple outlets or offices and can be used as a central hub for printing a vast array of items and despatching worldwide. The whole system is set up to give approval controls to designated individuals controlling print spend so budgets can be closely monitored. Content and imagery can also be signed off as part of the approval controls. The key element to these services is our Xerox iGen3 digital printer. Here at 4DM we can print on a vast array of substrates such as gloss, silk, card, labels and many more from 60gsm up to 350gsm, and can even use different substrates during the same production run (ideal for producing personalised booklets etc). The widely recognised iGen3 produces amazing quality printed items quickly and efficiently with minimal wastage and coupled to our advanced finishing equipment, we can produce highly individual targeted mail pieces. As an example, the Easter card we have sent out incorporates the recipients name as a variable within the image on the front. It was mailed in a C6 personalised envelope incorporating a handwritten font and a first class postage stamp. The purpose of the mailing is to raise awareness of our digital offering and generate additional sales in addition to acting as a seasonal greeting.
