PAS 2020
PAS 2020 is the direct mail industry’s self regulating environmental standard and it is an initiative against which a marketing campaign’s environmental performance can be measured.
Developed by the BSI, PAS 2020 is a voluntary code with 3 entry levels covering 10 objectives relating to the mailing campaign, such as data suppression, recyclability, paper and ink content, printing, mailing and distribution aspects. The resulting score will determine the environmental performance and indicators relating to the campaign piece.
It was officially launched earlier in February 2009 after many months of consultation with the government, trade associations, consumer groups and the industry. Here at 4DM we have been able to use the tool to assess the green credentials of various tenders through to actual production runs.
